DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S
DISASTER RESPONSE TEAM
Less than a year after Hurricane Ivan inflicted
serious damage to much of South Alabama, Hurricane Katrina cut
a wide swath of devastation, shattering lives, obliterating whole
communities, and displacing thousands of Mobile County families.
To prevent a second storm of fraud and other rising
crime rates that typically follow natural disasters, the District
Attorney's Disaster Response Team was formed to quickly alert the
public to scams.

The District Attorney's Fraud Strike Force enhances
prosecution of scam artists who prey on hurricane victims. If you
suspect that you, a friend or a family member is being victimized
by a con artist, please contact the Mobile County District Attorney's
Office immediately at 251-574-8400. You may also tip
us off on-line.
Dozens of representatives of Mobile County's business
and professional organizations, utility companies, government agencies,
building and repair contractors, building supply companies, government
and law enforcement agencies and volunteer organizations formed
a network to prevent post-hurricane fraud and prosecute scam artists.
We invite any Mobile County agency or organization to join our network
and assist us in protecting our citizens. Says District Attorney
John Tyson Jr., "We're all in this recovery effort together".
